A Soft Summer Cloughjordan House Wedding

A Soft Summer Cloughjordan House Wedding

Do you dream of a country garden wedding laced with lots of charm and character? Kate and Oisín’s gorgeous wedding at the family-run Cloughjordan House in the heartlands, was the perfect summer bash with all the above! After 13 sweet years together, their special day epitomizes rustic chic and modern elegance, blending timeless charm with contemporary details to create a stunning celebration in the heart of the Irish countryside.

Good food, great music, and lots of laughter painted the picture of their perfect day. They indulged in delicious seasonal fare from Cloughjordan House, swayed to the tunes of their live band The Suitcase Trio, and even treated their guests to unique surprises – from a delectable wedding cheese cake and an audio guest book, to personalised place settings. Every element was thoughtfully curated to reflect their personalities and set the mood for an unforgettable celebration.  See their day unfold in the beautiful imagery by Marcus Nolan of MPN Weddings below.

First things first, let’s get to know our lovely couple a little better, shall we? Kate and Oisín both hail from Galway, but currently call Oxford home. The pair first met when they were teens. Kate tells us, “We originally met on a rowing night out when we were 15 (we both did rowing in school) but it wasn’t until we met again when we were 18 in the place where all good Galway romances begin – a nightclub which was then called CP’s.”

The proposal happened while the pair were holidaying in the French Alps with Kate’s family. Kate fills us in, “We went for a hike just the two of us (Oisín insisted it would just be the two of us so I had a feeling!). He proposed with his grandmother’s ring beside a little waterfall and it was so lovely and of course after 13 years together I said yes!”.

Once the planning began, the couple set about creating a ‘Country garden party’ celebration with their main priority from the beginning being “for everyone to feel relaxed and to have fun!”.

And the perfect spot for their relaxed, and fun summer celebration? The wonderful family-run Cloughjordan House in Co. Tipperary. An exclusive venue in the Irish countryside where everything is home-grown or locally sourced.

On the 8th June 2024, the couple’s ceremony took place in the converted Woolshed barn, officiated by Romy from A Beautiful Ceremony, who kept the service thoughtful, light-hearted, and personal. “Romy did such an amazing job and our friends and family contributed personal touches”, the bride reminisces. The adds, “Our friend Aoife’s acoustic cover of Toothpaste Kisses by the Maccabees is one of our favourite moments of the day.”

After Kate & Oisín were announced as officially wed, they joined their 135 guests for drinks on the lawn, before taking some time together for their couples portraits. “We love the time we spent together after the ceremony for our photos session with Marcus. It was so special and he made us feel relaxed as we walked around the gorgeous gardens of Cloughjordan House.”

When asked what made Cloughjordan House ‘the one’ for them, Kate says “Apart from the amazing food, we loved the fact that the venue is family run. The Baker’s made it feel like our own place for the weekend. The little touches like the garden party games, the gorgeous dogs and the attention to detail in the rooms made it extra special.”

The bride adds, “Another reason we loved Cloughjordan was that guests could walk straight out of the
ceremony onto the front lawn for the reception – maximising time for the important things (drinks and food!).”

For their relaxed summer wedding, Kate choose an ethereal floral wedding gown with elbow-lenght sleeve from LA-based bridal label Kite & Butterfly which she sourced at Pearl Lane Bridal.

She paired it with heels by Spanish shoe designer Flordeasoka, petal drop earrings from Alice May Bridal and a dreamy summer bouquet by Clonakenny Flower Farm which looked freshly plucked from the garden.

Kate’s bridesmaids created a garden of their own with mismatched green and floral print bridesmaids dresses from various high street brands including Rixo and Nobody’s Child which complimented the vibe of the day perfectly.

Oisín wore a blue tweed suit from Tango’s Dress Hire in Dublin which he made his own with a sage tie and pocket square from Marks & Spencers.

The couple designed and made the seating plan themselves, as well as adding photos of each guest for
place names at their seats. “We had so much fun trawling back through Facebook to find funny photos and loved seeing everyone’s reactions to this little surprise!”.

After a delicious seasonal, home-grown meal, and an alternative wedding cake in the form of a tasty wedding cheese cake from Sheridan’s Cheesemongers, the newlyweds opened the dance floor with a first dance to Just What I Needed by The Cars. After, The Suitcase Trio provided nonstop entertainment.

Looking back on their gorgeous day, the couple tell us it was “was fun, relaxed and personal. The woodshed was the perfect rustic ceremony venue that we wanted and the reception felt like a big garden party!”

After planning such an wonderful personal celebration, the couple have this simple, yet stellar advice for other couples, “Don’t overthink it!”.

The happy couple celebrated even further during their honeymoon to South Korea and Japan at the end of September.

Congratulations Kate and Oisín on your utterly dreamy summer Cloughjordan House wedding. A special thank you to Marcus Nolan of MPN Weddings for sharing their celebration.
