Chill and complete craic, that is how Elaine and Johnny describe their spring wedding day. They celebrated at the intimate, magical and absolutely unique Inish Beg Estate located on a private island off the West Cork coast that can be reached by bridge! Full of love and laughter, their celebration boasted the prettiest pastel palette we will forever be dreaming about. Beautifully lensed by Folklore Photography, you’re going to love every single detail from the floral box signage to magical mismatched bridesmaids dresses and even a limoncello spritz station. Let’s get going!

Born and based in Ballincollig in Cork, Elaine and Johnny are teenage sweethearts and they’ve been together since they were 15. Elaine shares, “Johnny stole my phone number off a friend’s phone. 14 years on, we are husband and wife.”

Johnny popped the question during their first Christmas in their new home. “It was just the two of us, so special. He picked the ring out himself which I absolutely loved! I was so surprised because he can’t keep a secret. We celebrated with friends and family that night.”

Pastel perfection. The mix and match bridesmaids dresses in shades of pale blue, pink and yellow all boasted romantic ruffle detailing.

A fairytale first look between Elaine and her father!

Elaine sourced her refined ballgown wedding dress with a ruched bodice and a statement bow at the back from Cinderella’s Closest in Cork with accessories from The White & Gold which included ‘something blue’ shoes.

Charly Lowe of Velvet & Fern was their planner and their florist and Elaine fills us in on their priorities for their celebration. “Our goal was for us to actually enjoy our wedding day. We wanted a wedding so we could celebrate with our friends and family who witnessed so much of our lives together. Plenty of drink, food, great music and of course craic. Full of absolute love and laughter. I can say we definitely achieved our goal!”

Be still our beating hearts! The sensational spring bouquets were loaded with delicate shades and included chrysanthemum, delphinium, daisies, dahlias, and tea roses.

Superb spring suiting! The grooms party donned slick suits from Best Menswear with the groom opting for a light grey three-piece suit which matched the spring aesthetic perfectly and his leading gents wore navy.

Elaine and Johnny tied the knot at The Church of the Holy Rosary in Kilcoe on a magical day in May and they were joined by 125 of their nearest and dearest.

Elaine walked down the aisle to Raglan Road played by Delta Strings, pure magic. Her sister wrote the Reflection piece for the mass which was read beautifully by her godmother, it was such a special moment for the couple.

They had so much fun from start to finish, Elaine reflects. “I loved our morning getting ready with friends and family. I giggled through the whole wedding ceremony.”

Elaine’s maid of honour and her mother were an indispensable source of support during the wedding planning process. “They helped so much in ways I can’t explain. Johnny was patient when I had times of stress. Close friends and family could not express more how excited they were for the big day. All of this helped! However, there were moments of panic and fear planning the day, I advise anyone who is planning a wedding to get those feelings out the way so when it comes to the big day, know you have done all the hard work so relax and enjoy your day with your new husband/wife, friends and family!”

How chic was their vintage wedding car? There’s no question they travelled in style on their special day!

Elaine and Johnny instantly fell in love with Inish Beg Estate, in fact it was the only venue they viewed. “We never experienced anything like it and it was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted something different and a bit alternative and Inish Beg ticked all our boxes. We were aware of a bit more organising that is expected, not the same as a wedding at the likes of a hotel but it also allowed us to make it what we wanted and more personable.”

The couple wanted their wedding to feel intimate and relaxed and once they decided to get married at Inish Beg Estate the inspiration flowed from there. “The grounds and scenery are something out of a dream. Charly at Velvet and Fern who provided my flowers and everything else in between. She is so extremely talented, it was like reached into our minds and transformed the venue to exactly what we wanted.”

Elaine’s mum made their Limoncello Spritz station, the zingy cocktail was the perfect tipple for their sun-kissed drinks reception at the boat house.

Elaine’s sister who was also maid of honour created their stationery which had a beautiful botanical twist.

The bright blooms took centre stage in the tablescape styling with the table numbers also boasting delicate floral illustrations. Sleek gold candlestick holders, colourful bud vases holders and wooden centrepieces created a modern and subtly rustic vibe.

Documentary-style wedding photographer Folklore Photography loves nothing more than capturing the most authentic, fun and and genuine moments for her couples. “Dzifa is one of the coolest girls I have ever met in general. She is the exact type of energy you want on your wedding day. We dreaded being in front of the camera so much but all that dread disappeared being with Dzifa. She made us feel so comfortable, she matched our vibe the whole day while also taking control by guiding us through our couples photos. She captured the whole feel of the day, all the important candid shots and happy memories. Picking Dzifa to capture our wedding day is up there with one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.”

They held their speeches during their drink receptions and there wasn’t a dry eye from all the emotion and laughter.

Elaine’s bridesmaids sourced their glorious gowns on ASOS, Club L London and Needle and Thread.

Up to 90 their wedding band lived up to their name as they the danced the night away. They all worked up quite the appetite and Shanil’s food truck kept them fuelled to party on.

To hit the dancefloor the bride changed into a magical mini dress adorned with floral appliques.

They kept the festivities going with a day two which included a scrumptious BBQ and pizzas.

The newlyweds celebrated with a honeymoon in Benalmadena in Malaga. So fabulous!
