While we love a bit of romance and glamour, there’s also something so cool about a warehouse or gallery space all dressed up for a wedding day. With this in mind, we wanted to show off some of our favourite industrial wedding venues in Ireland, and their artistic counterparts, all of which provide a great blank canvas for creative couples.

The Mill at The Millhouse, Meath

Housed in an old mill building at the The Millhouse in Slane, Co. Meath, The Mill ceremony space features metal posts and beams, raw concrete flooring and exposed stone walls, making it ideal for an industrial-style wedding ceremony. Receptions don’t take place in the mill itself, but the venue can accommodate up to 150 guests in the main drawing rooms, or up to 240 in the orangery and courtyard area in summer. A Dublin stalwart that you may not realise is home to many weddings, The National Gallery is all about subtle elegance and refined style. The Georgian rooms at No. 5 South Leinster Street are ideal for intimate civil ceremonies and the Wintergarden and Millennium Foyer are the ideal spot for art-loving couple receptions. One of the world’s oldest theatres, Smock Alley in Dublin was built in 1662 and now boasts restored original spaces and church buildings that are perfect for a city centre ceremony. Couples can say I do in the magnificent 17th-century Banquet Hall, which features cathedral ceilings and stained glass windows. It’s a dreamy spot backing on to Temple Bar, perfect for a hip yet romantic gatherings of up to 100 ceremony guests. JANDO Studios at The Chocolate Factory, Dublin

Once an actual working chocolate factory, JANDO Studios at The Chocolate Factory on Kings Inn Street is now home to artist studios, an organic restaurant and creative spaces. With its bare aesthetic, this warehouse space serves as the perfect starting point for an industrial shindig and even features an allotment-style, rooftop garden for taking portraits against the Dublin skyline. Catering is provided in-house by the team at Blas, and you’ll even get to take home a unique complimentary JANDO Soundwave print based on a song or moment from your wedding day as a memento. Formerly the site of an 19th century stables that was originally used by one of the local distillers in the Blackpitts area The Fumbally Stables is a hidden gem in the heart of Dublin. Rugged and rustic, the building’s history oozes out of every brick and beam. The Studio, located on the 1st floor is ideal for wedding ceremonies, while the atmosphere & layout of the The Long Room dining space with its long banquet style tables is a cosy & intimate spot for up to 45 guests. There’s also the Loft room full of character to make you feel at home, for smaller intimate groups of up to 20. Lovers of the Fumbally Cafe will know how much guests are in for a treat when it comes to the incredible food offerings available.

Whether you’re looking for a spectacular setting for your Dublin city cocktail reception, or a beautiful room to host a your reception, Regent House at Trinity College is the ideal location. Dating from 1750, its atmosphere reflects the history of Ireland’s oldest university, from magnificent architecture, high ceilings and ornate details to contemporary artwork and facilities. Your guests will arrive at the front gate to the university and ascend the grand cantilevered staircase to arrive at this epic, historic space with views of College Green and Front Square, which can accommodate 140 people for a cocktail reception, or 80 seated for dinner. While College Chapel and the Public Theatre is only available to Trinity students, staff and alumni, Regent House can be booked by any member of the public.

The MAC, Belfast

Located in the bustling Cathedral Quarter in the heart of Belfast city is The MAC (Metropolitan Arts Centre), Belfast’s arts venue, comprising theatre and art gallery spaces. Couples can choose from a variety of spaces including the Sunken Gallery for intimate, exclusive gatherings or the vast Upper Gallery for a bash of up to 200 guests. Though adorned with beautiful artwork, the remainder of the spaces are raw and bare, allowing couples to get creative with their decor!

A Dublin city centre museum devoted to Ireland’s greatest storytellers, The Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI) first opened its doors in late 2019 and is now available for weddings.
