Full of laughter and the happiest tears, this wonderfully personal and stylish real wedding will sweep you off your feet. Joined by 120 of their closest people, Molly and Sean tied the knot at the effortlessly chic Segrave Barns in Co. Louth. With an aesthetic driven by their venue, their celebration exuded rustic romance with a palette infused with tonal blues. Bought to life beautifully with the help of their loved ones, the summer fete boasted utterly beautiful handmade touches by the bride, groom and his sister. Captured in breathtaking style by Hannah McKeown Photography, their summer fete included two divine bridal looks, jaw-dropping wildflower bouquets, a dreamy barn ceremony, a singing chef, a dazzling sparkler photo and so much more. Let’s go!

Distance was no match for these two as Dubliner Molly met Sean from Hastings in the UK on Instagram. Molly explains, “At the time, Sean was living in England. I came across his page, and decided to send him a message and that’s how it all began. We did long distance for four years, and then Covid hit, which meant we couldn’t see each other for six long months. But that’s when Sean made the big decision to take the leap and move to Dublin, leaving his hometown of Hastings in England.”

Sean chose Molly’s engagement ring himself and she absolutely loved it. He managed to keep it hidden from her for over a year, moving it around to different hiding spots so she would never find it. “He proposed by a beautiful lake in Sligo in Hazelwood Forest. Sean and I love going on nature walks, and that day we had the whole setting to ourselves; it was peaceful and personal.”

The most important element of their wedding day was having all the people they love together in one room, enjoying themselves, laughing, and having fun. Molly says, “I really wanted our wedding to be different from everyone else’s. We like to do things our own way, and that’s why we included so many personal touches. A lot of what we used on the day was homemade and designed by myself, Sean, and his sister Kelly, who has her own personalised business. It made everything feel that bit more meaningful and true to us.”

They wanted to ensure their celebration reflected their personalities in every way. Their venue Seagrave Venue gave them the freedom to create the deeply personal wedding day of their dreams. “Being able to include our own touches throughout the day truly reflected who Sean and I are as a couple and made the whole experience feel uniquely ours.”

Their ceremony took place in the barn which was a rustic, romantic and wonderfully relaxed backdrop to tie the knot.

Molly’s cousin Aoife who runs the Wexford-based flower farm and artisan floral design studio Wildflower Weddings arranged the wildly romantic flowers with a vivid ‘something blue’ twist. The bride carried a breathtaking oversized bouquet which included delphinium, love-in-a-mist, cosmos, and a flourish of ferns.

Having trusted loved ones involved in so many parts of the day made it even more special, Molly reminisces. “My other cousin and bridesmaid Sara, who runs SkinGlow Clinic, took care of my skincare, and the incredibly talented Roy Leigh, who I’ve known for years, did my hair along with my five bridesmaids and the flower girls all by himself. My makeup artist Celine was also amazing, keeping me calm on the morning of the wedding and making me feel and look fantastic. Knowing such wonderful, talented people were looking after everything meant the world and made the whole day feel so personal and full of love.”

Molly sourced her dream wedding dress at the award-winning bridal boutique The White Room in Mullingar. With an elegant fit and flare silhoutte, the refined and romantic gown boasts a beautiful ruched sweetheart neckline. She chose an array of delicate pearl and crystal accessories from Rosie & Dott and bow heels by The Rainbow Club.

Molly and her mother helped design the ceremony and they selected meaningful, beautiful readings for their family and friends. In fact, the bride even did a reading which made the ceremony all-the-more personal to her. “Our singer Clara performed all of our favourite chosen songs, bringing the ceremony to life. The atmosphere wasn’t too serious it was lighthearted and fun, which perfectly summed up Sean and me.”

Here come the newlyweds!

Her bridesmaids and flower girls were dressed in light blue which is her favourite colour. They wore flowing chiffon gowns with mismatched necklines by Duntry and the grooms party wore
Sean and his groomsmen wore navy suits, which complemented the girls perfectly. My cousin Aoife arranged all of our flowers using the same light blue tones mixed with wildflowers, all grown from their home in Wexford, and they were absolutely gorgeous.

Molly and Sean first experienced the magic of Segrave Barns when they attended her uncle’s wedding. They both had work the next day so they could not fully switch into party mode they instantly fell in love with the venue. “The barn opened up into a huge room filled with lights and the most amazing atmosphere. Straight away, we knew this was where we wanted to get married one day. Although we viewed a few other venues, nothing came close. The staff at Seagrave were so accommodating and genuinely kind they not only met our expectations but went far beyond them. What we loved most was how laid-back they were, and how they encouraged us to bring in our own personal touches. It allowed us to make the wedding completely our own, which suited us perfectly.”

With lush foliage, tall candlebras dotted with white taper candles, personalised baby blue satin bows adorned with pearls, and plenty of sparkling fairy lights, their reception styling was exuded rustic elegance with a

The celebration was a wonderful family effort. “Sean’s sister Kelly played such a huge part in our wedding. She created the wedding favours, which included scratch cards to win cocktails named after our favourite drinks — ‘The Mollarita’ and the ‘Sean Star Martini’ — as well as a personalised photo for each guest. She added so many thoughtful touches that made the day feel extra special. Sean’s mum, Annette, made our stunning wedding cake and beautifully decorated biscuits, while Sean himself crafted our wedding sign with a timeline of the day.”

A stunning tribute was paid to her grandmother, “My mum her vintage-style silk dress bought from Arnotts in the 1960s. Granny died when I was 12, so it felt lovely to have her presence as part of the day. I also wore my granny’s engagement ring as my ‘something old’ which made the day feel even more meaningful and personal.”

Eugene Ginty, the owner of Segrave Barn, provided the dinner entertainment as a signing chef and he was a hit with the whole wedding party.

The bride made everyone’s jaws drop once more as she changed into her second wedding dress, a form-fitting lace gown with a dainty crystal belt and a scalloped hem.

They choreographed their own routine for their first dance to Dreams by The Cranberries. “Not only did it make the dance special for us, but also fun and entertaining for all our guests.”

In the lead-up to the wedding try and make sure to look after yourself as much as possible, Molly advises. “It can be a stressful time, so focus on staying healthy and well, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. The day only happens once, and you want to be able to fully live in the moment and soak it all in. As everyone always says, the wedding really does go by so quickly, so try to enjoy every single moment and stay present. Don’t worry about the little things, at the end of the day, the wedding is shaped by the atmosphere and the people around you, not the tiny details.”

Molly works in a school and they perfectly timed their wedding so they could go on their honeymoon almost right away. First up was a romantic mini-moon to Kelly’s Hotel in Rosslare. “The staff and food were excellent, and we would definitely recommend it. We even plan to use this hotel to celebrate our anniversaries in the future.” Then they travelled to sun-drenched Sicily for nearly three weeks. “We stayed in Cefalù and enjoyed a perfect mix of activities: sightseeing and tourist trips, long beach days, reading numerous books on the Kindle, and simply enjoying quality time together.”

The couple has settled into married life really well and they have just embarked on their next adventure together. “We are excited for what’s ahead, especially starting a business called Molly’s Little Movers to support children who struggle with their emotions through an active sports camp that helps them release energy and learn to self-regulate.”
