A Harry Met Sally Themed Cloughjordan House Wedding

Today’s real wedding at Cloughjordan House will leave you bursting with joy. Surrounded by 110 of their favourite people, Georgia and Patrick wed in colourful, eclectic, sustainable, and wonderfully romantic style. Our fabulous bride and groom are both trained in the performing arts and they work as singers and music played a key role in making their summer celebration so memorable, there were so many sweet nods to their love story – prepare to swoon aplenty!

They had a gentle Harry Met Sally theme which is their favourite film and their family and friends were the heartbeat of their day. From their beautiful barn ceremony to their candlelit marquee reception brimming with delicate pastel hues, to the texture-rich florals and the scrumptious (and famous) favours, we’re so glad Phil Voon of Give Us A Goo was on hand to capture every single gorgeous details. With his signature natural documentary style it which meant that no moment of magic was missed in what was truly a unforgettable celebration of love!

We’ll kick off with the story of how their happily ever after began. Patrick is from Cork and Georgia is from Surrey which is where they are based today. Patrick moved over to London to study performing arts at the age of 18 and has lived there ever since. He tries to get back home whenever possible so it was a no-brainer that they wanted to get married in Ireland. They met about nine years ago when they were working together in the musical, Bat Out of Hell: The Musical. They tell us, “We were dance partners and it was all very cliche. We shared a long commute to our respective homes and fell in love on the Waterloo – Reading line.”

Sweet fun fact: Patrick’s wedding ring is actually his father’s wedding ring!

Their proposal was wonderfully dreamy as Patrick proposed on their fifth at a sunrise spot in Thailand. “Georgia was so surprised, as Patrick had been adamant he didn’t believe in marriage. Initially this was, at least partly, true but he sound realised he had every intention of getting married – but Georgia was never privy to that information and so it came as quite a surprise – fuve years in the making.”

Georgia and Patrick’s main priority was creating a relaxed atmosphere with little fuss and formality as possible so everyone could just enjoy the day with no hassle. “We knew we wanted everyone to stay together on site and for there to be as much opportunity for us and our guests to really spend time with one another.”

They fill us in on what inspired their breathtaking and joyful summer celebration, “We are quite eclectic in what we like and tend to shy away from things that are too uniform or prescribed. We didn’t want anything too matchy-matchy. We also hate being wasteful and there is an endless amount of ‘wedding stuff’ advertised to you. Where possible we tried to minimise ‘one use’ things. For instance we bought an old wooden framed mirror off Facebook Marketplace for £20 and used decal stickers to make a welcome sign and we now have the mirror hanging at home.”

The couple held their legal ceremony a few days beforehand at the Cork registry office but they made as little fuss about that as possible. They wanted their ceremony at Cloughjordan House to be really personal and to feel like ‘their’ celebration and not a template. Their dear friend Ben Purkiss acted as their celebrant.

Music was essential to creating the perfect vibe for the countryside celebration. “We tour the UK and Ireland each week, singing together for a company called Concerts by Candlelight. Because of this, we are really lucky that our friendship group is largely made up of an excellent group of singers and musicians! One of Patrick’s groomsmen, Mark Houston, sang Georgia down the aisle, and their friends Eve Norris and Brad Doné sang them back out!”

“We spent a long time writing the ceremony including lots of anecdotes and personal messages,” they reflect. “We researched various marriage rights (we went with hand fasting, our mothers ‘tying the knot’) and we incorporated as many friends and family as we could – every child present walked the aisle as flower girls, page boys and ring bearers.

Georgia’s dad, Tony, gave a beautiful rendition of The Book of Love at the ceremony which is a song that was playing when Patrick proposed, it was so special to have him perform it on the day. What a gorgeous full-circle moment.

Their venue offered a rustic and homely atmosphere that put all their loved ones at ease. “I think looking back we would describe our wedding as a laid-back, wholesome party that was truly made so special by having everyone we love come together, and seeing them all get along. We were overwhelmed with how many people made the effort to travel to Tipperary for us, it meant so much!”

Their friends and family were central to bringing their celebration to life. “We had friends share poems, speeches, songs, music, etc. during the ceremony and party. Patrick’s sister did part of the ceremony in Irish for us, family helped decorate the venue with wild flowers, a friend painted personalised table numbers for us, etc. We also had – but really it as the fact that everyone was there to share the day with us that made it so special.”

The bridesmaids mixed and matched their own dresses with shades ranging from lemon yellow to icy blue and forest green. “We wanted a sort of palette but not all matching,” the bride reveals.

Photography and videography were also top of their list of priorities, they wanted vendors who could really capture the day, as it was and how it felt too, so they could hold on to all of the memories. Give Us A Goo captured every smile, cherished moment and stunning detail!

Fiona Harrison – The Makeup Studio was behind her breathtaking beauty look while Dominique Kane styled her effortlessly elegant half up half down hairstyle.

The rustic and vibrant bouquets and boutonnieres were curated by Meadow Bunch and so very sweetly the bride and groom’s parents hand-picked more blooms on the morning of the wedding.

Georgia sourced her breathtaking boho wedding dress by Saint Couture Bridal at Lovely Bride.

Delicate pastel hues drove their reception styling with the long tables dressed with sage green table runners and soft pink napkins. The tablescape decor also included white taper candles in sleek silver holders and delicate clusters of whimsical blooms. Overhead, clouds of lush foliage were hung along with paper lanterns.

They enlisted Irish videographer Andrew Kelly who captures wedding films around on the world on Super 8mm.

The guitar duo Simon Crockett and Neisha Azzopardi of Shanti delivered the perfect set for their reception. “They are two guitarists that Patrick actually happened across when he was in Ballydehob, Co Cork one weekend with some of his friends. They were playing in Rosie’s pub and he loved them so much he tracked them down a year or so later and asked them to play at our reception!”

They booked their venue and placed a deposit before they had even been over to Ireland to see it, they knew it was ‘the one’. The bride explains, “We had originally started looking in Cork (online), but when we saw Cloughjordan we knew it was perfect – it had exactly the right feel to it, it had excellent options for both an indoor or an outdoor ceremony, which was really important to us, and as big foodies, we had read so many reviews about how excellent the food is and it really did exceed all our expectations!”

For the wedding favours the mother of the groom Nuala made her famous blackberry jam which was lovingly packaged by Patrick and Georgia DIY style.

The newlyweds cut their cake with a special memento that they picked when they were travelling together. “The knife is actually a traditional knife used by the Hmong tribe in Laos. When we went travelling around South East Asia a year or so before the wedding, it was gifted to Patrick when we stayed in a local village homestay. He insisted it was the only thing we could cut our cake with!”

They paid yet another stunning homage to their love story with their first dance song, Meat Loaf’s song Just Won’t Quit. “It is a song that’s so special to us as it was in Bat Out of Hell: The Musical (where we met) so we have all these memories of being on stage together before we had even really gotten to know each other, and it is also just such a beautiful song. Our friend Simon, who was in the show with us, sung our first dance for us and it was a perfect moment.”

The celebrations continued the next day with a fun-filled BBQ. “The offering of a day two BBQ which just made the whole wedding feel like a holiday with everyone we love.”

“Although we didn’t technically call it a honeymoon, our first holiday about a month after getting married was to Peru, where we hiked to Machu Picchu,” they reveal. “It was a phenomenal trip – but not the most romantic or relaxing holiday! So a year later we went to Santorini for a more ‘official’ honeymoon, and we stayed at a beautiful hotel that we highly recommend called Canaves Epitome. The hotel is amazing!”

Congratulations Georgia and Patrick! We want to say a huge thank you to our fabulous couple for sharing their stunning Cloughjordan House wedding with us and to Phil Voon of Give Us A Goo who capturing their dream day with such breathtaking beauty.
