A Joyful Bellinter House Wedding Filled with Colour and Style: Niamh & Colum

Set in the heart of the Meath countryside, Niamh and Colum celebrated their “I do’s” with a beautiful Bellinter House wedding. With 150 of their closest family and friends gathered under one historic roof, the Dublin couple created a day filled with relaxed fun and heartfelt moments. Colourful blooms and Niamh’s fun bridal style added vibrant touches throughout, while their late-May celebration unfolded across the estate’s atmospheric rooms and sweeping grounds, making Bellinter House the perfect backdrop for a day that felt both intimate and unforgettable. Captured by Rafal Borek, it was a wedding to remember.

Niamh, from Swords, and Colum, from nearby Donabate, first crossed paths far from home. In 2011, while both were on holiday in Portugal, a chance encounter brought them together. Sun, sea and holiday freedom set the perfect scene, and what began as an unexpected meeting abroad quickly sparked a connection that followed them all the way back to North County Dublin.

Colum proposed on the beach at sunset on the Gaeltacht island of Inis Oírr. The soft evening light, the stillness of the island and the Atlantic at their feet made the moment unforgettable. In their words, it was “Perfection!!”

Once engaged, Niamh and Colum knew exactly what mattered most for their wedding day. “Our priorities were fun and dancing! We wanted our friends and family to enjoy themselves and we think that we achieved this,” they say. Karl Cosgrove’s music at the reception set the perfect tone, while Smash Hits brought incredible energy, ensuring the dancefloor was never empty. “We were blown away by the feedback about the band and the dancefloor. Mission accomplished!”.

When asked what inspired their wedding aesthetic, Niamh said it was “our own personal style. I love a colourful tablescape and a colourful shoe! We wanted to feel and look like ourselves on the day, which we did!” Summing up the day, they described it as “fun, relaxed and colourful.” The flowers were very important to them, and Boutique Blooms “just blew us away.” They couldn’t have been happier with how the day turned out and say they “would do it all again in a heartbeat”.

And the perfect venue for their colourful, fun-filled, relaxed day? Niamh and Colum said, “Bellinter House Hotel; is such a beautiful venue and exactly the style that we knew we wanted. We had stayed in Bellinter together a long time ago too, which was a nice connection. As Bellinter is a hotel, we are delighted that we can go back and stay there to relive the memories any time we like.”

On the last day of May 2025, Niamh and Colum said “I do” in a beautiful ceremony led by Willie Collins. “We had the same wedding celebrant as our friends Lisa and Dylan, which was a lovely connection,” they shared. Niamh added, “I loved walking up the aisle to Time After Time with my dad, Cyril.”

Their ceremony was made even more special by the exchange of rings which were crafted by a family friend, as well as by friends and family who read and took part, sharing beautiful words in both English and as Gaeilge.

We are absolutely in love with Niamh’s contemporary bridal gown, a custom creation by Irish designer Edwina O’Gorman, featuring oversized puff sleeves and a dramatic ruffle train.

She paired her contemporary gown with bold purple heels by Kurt Geiger. Makeup was by Ailbhe Lynch and hair by Rachel Lowry.

Guests were lucky to enjoy some early summer sunshine during cocktail hour.

The bridesmaids wore neutral pleated skirt gowns from ASOS, while the groomsmen looked sharp in suits by Protocol Menswear, Dawson Street.

After cocktail hour, Niamh and Colum and their guests enjoyed a reception in The Garden Suite. What made the day truly special and personal were the little touches throughout the venue. Polaroid photos of the couple, spanning from 2011 to 2025, were dotted around the space and at the centre of every table. The speeches, heartfelt and sincere, were another highlight—Niamh loved speaking in front of all the guests, while Colum was a little less keen!

When asked what advice they would give to other couples planning their day, Niamh and Colum said, “Do what you want to do, it is your day. Make decisions based on what the two of you want to include. It is very easy to get carried away. Your guests are there to celebrate with you, they don’t expect crazy bells and whistles. Oh, and enjoy it!”.

For their first dance, Niamh and Colum chose Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, a romantic start to their evening of celebration. After, Niamh’s sister Aideen, surprised everyone with giant cut-outs of their cats on the dancefloor, adding a fun and memorable twist to the celebrations.

For their honeymoon, Niamh and Colum went on a Mediterranean cruise, visiting Italy, France, and Spain. “It was fabulous,” they said.

We want to thank Niamh and Colum for letting us share their beautiful day and wish them every happiness for the future. A special thanks to Rafal Borek for capturing the magic of their Bellinter House wedding so beautifully. Head to the full gallery to see more of this stunning wedding.
