Classic, elegant, refined, and spectacular, today’s real wedding at Tankardstown House was the epitome of magical. Niamh and Liam tied the knot surrounded by 225 of their loved ones in an impeccably stylish celebration that was filled with joy. With a simple aesthetic and a black and white theme for the bridal party, their summer fete oozed monochrome magic.
Featuring a breathtaking bespoke wedding dress, lush white blooms, exquisite groomswear, a beautifully personal ceremony, a reception in the airy orangery, and a wow white cake, this incredible celebration was a love letter to quiet luxury. With dreamy romantic imagery from Anna G Photography, who was joined by second shooter Valentina Gassiy, we know you’ll wish you had scored an invite to their stunning summer wedding!

So before we dive headfirst into the exquisite details, let’s get to know our couple more. Niamh is from Clara in County Offaly while Liam is from Navan in County Meath. They had their first date in her neck of the woods as they went for a walk around beautiful Birr Castle. It did not go exactly according to plan for Liam as when they stopped for a coffee he spilled it all over himself. Niamh says, “It broke the ice straight away and the rest is history!”

Fast forward to their proposal where Liam popped the question on the boardwalk near Niamh’s family home in Offaly on the 23rd of December. “It was raining and I really didn’t want to go for a walk! My mam even suggested we stay in and have a coffee instead, but Liam was determined we go! Halfway along the boardwalk he got down on one knee. It was the perfect start to Christmas, and we carried the celebrations on a few days later with a ski trip!” While they have been living in Dublin for the past three years they are really excited to move to Melbourne this summer.

Their wedding day priorities were amazing food and great music. “We wanted everyone to feel looked after, have the best time, and really enjoy the atmosphere from start to finish.”

Niamh’s wedding morning wardrobe was utterly gorgeous with a ruffled Elliatt maxi and cream striped pyjamas from Sleeper with a monochrome twist coming courtesy of the dramatic rosette and a chic sash belt.

Niamh has always loved classic and timeless style, so it was only natural that she wanted her wedding day to reflect that too. “We kept everything elegant and understated, focusing on clean details and a look that felt effortless rather than overdone. More than anything, we wanted something that would feel beautiful and refined on the day and that would date well.”

Effortless romance! Niamh’s fit and flare gown with a stunning ruched bodice was custom made by Paula King of Bridal by Tamem Michael. She wore black Jimmy Choo shoes and her accessories were from Swarovski and Rolex.

Flowers by Moira designed the florals which married romantic white blooms and verdant foliage. The guests were wowed instantly by the spectacular deconstructed arch at the entrance of the St. Martin of Tours Church in Culmullen.

It was such a special moment for Niamh to be walked up the aisle by her father and as their family and friends were involved in the ceremony it made it so special and personal. “My local priest, Fr. Joe, travelled to Meath to marry us which meant so much to us,” she says.

The ceremony music was utterly stunning, she reminisces. “Having my cousins Grace and Caitlin sing, and Luke play the uilleann pipes, was incredibly personal. We let them decide on the music as we trusted them completely and they didn’t disappoint!”

From the tranquil gardens to the elegant surrounds of the country house, Niamh and Liam knew Tankardstown House was ‘the one’ the minute they arrived. “It’s such a beautiful venue and it has a really special warmth to it. The General Manager, Tadhg, also went above and beyond for us. He’s a complete professional and made everything feel seamless from our very first viewing right through to the big day which was so important to us.”

They hosted an intimate welcome dinner for their immediate families and bridal party at College Hill House, the restored historic guesthouse which is nestled beside Tankardstown House. “It was the perfect way to start the weekend and is honestly one of my favourite memories,” the bride reminisces. “We held our Day Two celebrations in the Brabazon Restaurant at Tankardstown as well, and it was incredible from beginning to end. Tadhg really is the best in the business, nothing was ever too much trouble!”

Liam’s slick tux from Abrahams was simply smashing. The couple sourced their wedding rings at Appleby Jewellers.

Niamh’s round bouquet laden with ruffled hydrangeas was the sweetest accompaniment to her fairytale gown.

Her lace trim drop veil was as dreamy as could be!

Niamh’s leading ladies wore beautiful black bridesmaid gowns from Dresscode. What a spellbinding bridal party.

Their nephew Ruadhán was their page boy and their niece Lily was their flower girl and they adorably stole the show.

They held their reception in the light-filled orangerie with the styling including textured tablecloths, towering silver candelabras, Chiavari chairs, and floral arrangements including hydrangeas, roses, delphinium, and lush bursts of foliage.

While their stationery suite by The Aisle boasted regal calligraphy, fray-edged ribbons and delicate etchings of their countryside venue, the tablescape signage was minimalist and adorned with black bows.

A chic and contemporary take on the classic white wedding cake by Fern Cakery.

Niamh and Liam chose a fun song for their first dance which really set the tone for their party to remember, Come and Get Your Love by Redbone.

The couple went to Tarragona in Spain straight after the wedding for a sun-kissed mini-moon. “We rented a car and stayed in Terra Dominicata Hotel & Winery which was absolutely gorgeous. We would highly recommend it. It was the perfect place to completely relax, unwind and reset after such a busy few weeks in the lead up to the wedding.”

They went on their honeymoon in the summer, they jetted off to the US where they spent a few days in New York before they travelled to Bozeman, Montana. “From there we rented a car and road-tripped through Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons, finishing up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip and we had the best time. Liam was the chief organiser for all things honeymoon and he did a great job!”
