Today’s real wedding couple Suzanne and Adam wed on a perfect spring day with a reception at Seaview House Hotel in Co. Cork. They wanted a small, laid-back and intimate celebration with garden party vibes and it was an absolutely charming affair. The style for their country house wedding had a whimsy dash thanks to the phenomenal bridal party style which included a silk and lace wedding dress and bridesmaids in frothy, creamy tiered dresses (with statement floral earrings all round by the way). Dzifa of Folklore Photography flawlessly captured the dizzy excitement and pure joy of their big day. Who is ready to swoon?
Suzanne and Adam met through friends in college. “We used to chat a lot at house parties and finally after about a year, Adam eventually asked me on a date…. and the rest is history. We’re together ‘officially’ nine years.”
Adam caught Suzanne completely off the hop with his romantic proposal in Bantry House in 2023. “After being together eight years, he managed to act completely chilled in the lead up and I was totally surprised which I loved. There was never any question that we wouldn’t end up together but we also hadn’t really spoken specifically about getting married and I really enjoyed the element of surprise. It was the perfect setting and just a very casual normal day for us so it was really perfect.”
Oh-so dapper groom Adam kicked off his wedding day with a scenic tipple by the river with his debonair groomsmen. His light beige three-piece suit was wonderfully offset by their rich navy tailoring.
Suzanne was an enchanting vision in her stunning, lustrous satin slip dress by Irish couturier Helen Cody which boasted delicate straps and romantic lace accents. She accessorised with spring-perfect floral drop earrings and silver Jimmy Choo heels.
Ensuring the wedding morning was nice and relaxing was of top importance to Suzanne. “I actually even took some time to myself just to try to be present and in the moment. I didn’t want too many distractions on the morning so kept things as simple as I could.”
Suzanne styled the bridesmaids dresses and flowers around her wedding gown. There was an undeniable air of relaxed whimsy about their wedding day, case in point for her ladies who wore dainty puff sleeve tiered dresses with a soft floral print from ASOS along with statement purple floral earrings.
The couple were joined by 63 of their nearest and dearest. “It was incredibly important to us to be just surrounded by the people most important to me and people I felt entirely comfortable with. It was hard keeping the numbers down but I think people understand if it is clear you just want a small wedding. I knew if I had a big wedding I would find it stressful and maybe get caught up in the smaller things that are not really important.”
They tied the knot at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Glengarriff where Suzanne made a breathtaking entrance to Radiance, Part 8 by Keith Jarrett. The couple wanted to have their loved ones as involved in their big day as possible. Suzanne reflects, “My incredibly talented friend Gillian Daly did our music and we had friends and family singing also. Having people involved in the ceremony was fabulous.”
Having worked in a hospital in Bantry, Suzanne has such fond memories from that part of West Cork. So when it came to picking their wedding venue, she explains, “Seaview could not have been a more perfect venue for us. We were less caught up with everything being aesthetically perfect and just wanted a laid-back, friendly almost house party vibe. Besides Seaview being just stunning, we cannot rave enough about the fantastic staff and owner Ronan. They were very chilled from the start but pulled everything off seamlessly!”
How sensational was their photoshoot down by the water’s edge?
The couple were absolutely blown away by the work of documentary wedding photographer Folklore Photography, “Her presence was so calming and professional on the day. She managed to capture our day absolutely perfectly. Could not recommend her more!”
Smashingly stylish guests! Suzanne sheds more light on the vibe of their wedding, “We tried not to get caught up in what we ‘should’ do and just did everything we thought would make the day special and fun. We decided to have children at our wedding which I personally loved. They completely added to the fun of the day.”
When it came to their aesthetic, the wedding décor drew influence from the old-world charm of the venue and the picturesque gardens which is home to trees that are 200 years old. Only adding to the jaw-dropping appeal of the venue are the glorious views of Bantry Bay.
As for the wedding dress of her dreams, Suzanne shares, “My mom was incredibly generous and treated me to my Helen Cody wedding dress. I feel incredibly lucky to have one of her pieces, she is such a talent and I also liked having an Irish-designed dress.”
The celebrations began with a drinks reception on the lawn where there were many delicious canapes to whip up an appetite for dinner. Many a tear was shed during the beautiful speeches! “Simply having our nearest and dearest all around us was incredible,” Suzanne says. “We have lots of siblings abroad, so having them all together and seeing both our families get to know each other was so special.”
Flowers played a starring role in the tablescape styling with wildflower illustrations on the menu to bunches of colourful blooms springing from vases on the tables. The jubilation was dialled up even further courtesy of the fabulous music from the multi award-winning wedding band Playlist.
A very special thank you to Suzanne, Adam and Folklore Photography for sharing their charming celebration with One Fab Day. There are even more gorgeous photos in the gallery below.
