Time to get Pinteresting. Enjoy!

Today’s celebration is the wedding of the lovely Ginny & Micah. The pair are both originally from Fayetteville, Georgia, USA, and attended the same high school. The couple are currently based in Marietta, Georgia USA.

While the couple attended high school together, it wasn’t until 2020 that they got together. Ginny fills us in, “Micah and I met in 2020 right at the beginning of the pandemic. I was taking a break from dating while studying for my Interior Design certification exam that ultimately got canceled due to COVID-19. In my newfound free time, I decided to join a dating app (Hinge) to pass the time in the early days of quarantine.”

“The first person I matched with was Micah and we became fast friends. We quickly realized we were from the same town and had even attended the same high school—Micah was a senior when I was a freshman. We had so many mutual friends—lots of my friends had older siblings that he was friends with. We talked everyday until May 3rd when we finally decided to leave our houses and go on a date. We went on a hike next to the Chattahoochee river and talked for hours. We’ve been best friends ever since!”

The proposal happened in September 2022 when Micha took Ginny on an impromptu road trip to their first and now annual vacation destination, Bryson City, NC.  Ginny tells, “It was a nearly 3 hour drive and the car ride there was a quiet and nervous one while Micah indulged me with a Taylor Swift playlist. He proposed in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Juney Whank Falls, a memorable hike to a small waterfall we had taken during that first vacation. He had photographers waiting for us to do a quick engagement shoot. It was perfect!”

“Afterwards he took me to our favorite restaurant in town, “The Bistro at the Everett Hotel”, we got our favorite meal and dessert and spent the ride home calling family and sharing our news! We will return to Bryson City in October for our babymoon!”

Once engaged, Ginny and Micah along with their wedding planner, began organising their February 2023 wedding right away, with just a short 4 month engagement.

Ginny started her wedding morning with a private breakfast with just her parents and gave them gifts and letters. “We all cried a little and my dad drove me to the venue to get ready and that truck ride is so memorable to me! He has always made me feel at peace and that day was no different.”

She adds, “I got ready with just my mom which was so special and relaxing. I did first looks with my dad, grandmother, mother in law, bridesmaids, and, of course, Micah. No one had seen my dress other than my mom so it was so fun for everyone to see my giant floofy dress for the first time.”

The theme they choose for their winter wedding was a “Midwinter Night’s Dream”, Ginny telling us this was “a play on the Shakespeare play inspired by my ethereal tulle wedding gown.” She adds, “Not your typical winter wedding—we wanted color and whimsy while also maintaining a romantic candlelit vibe with the coziness of a February winter night in the mountains.”

When asked what inspired this romantic wedding aesthetic, Ginny tells us, “My wedding dress! We had a quick 4 month engagement and the dress was the barrier to entry for a quick wedding. My mom and I spent a weekend going to 4 dress shops before I found the one and had my tear-filled “this is it!” moment.”

“My dress was tulle with lace appliqué and a giant dramatic, full skirt. It wasn’t what I expected to love but looking back it is totally me!  The dress informed the aesthetic for the rest of the day since it had a whimsical, enchanted garden type of vibe. We had to fit this into a winter wedding and wanted the entire aesthetic to be cohesive and  everything else fell into place!”

Ginny’s dreamy gown is by bridal designer Martina Liana which she sourced at J. Andrew’s Bridal. To complete her wedding day look, she wore Something Bleu shoes, family heirloom jewels and a veil by Etsy seller Blossom and Bluebird.

Ginny carried a touching ‘something borrowed’ on her bridal bouquet. My cousin, Alex, was in a terrible car accident about a month the before the wedding and sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury. Alex was one of the people most excited for our wedding, he had gone out to buy a new suit for it and was showing his invitation to anyone who would look at it. I carried Alex’s cross necklace wrapped around my bouquet as my something borrowed. He has made a miraculous full recovery, against all odds. He still apologizes for missing that day but the best gift is that he is still here with us.”

How utterly adorable are the couples flower girls Emma and Georgia in their wedding day finery? The pearl and oversized velvet bow detail which Ginny added is extra sweet.

Ginny walked down the aisle to her beloved Micah while Ave Maria played on the harp. “This was so special because I grew up singing at church and used to sing Ave maria on Mother’s Day accompanied by a harp. I loved getting to walk down the aisle to such a meaningful song to me!”

Ginny recalls some special moments during the ceremony: “My uncle Gregg officiated the ceremony for us. He is a Christian missionary in Thailand and I get to see him every couple of years when he travels back to the states. I never dreamed he would be able to even attend our wedding since he is rarely here but it just so happened he was going to be in town during our wedding date and he was able to be our officiant and it was so special and meant to be! He and my aunt Julie also took time to FaceTime us for premarital counseling in the months leading up to our wedding. Because my uncle isn’t an ordained minister we had to have a courthouse wedding a few weeks before the wedding day to make it legal and official. Micah’s aunt is a probate court judge in Madison county GA. She was able to officiate our legal wedding ceremony on February 3 2023 which was also so special!”

“I asked my grandmother to choose bible verses for our readings and she took such love and care in it. I felt like the verses she chose were also in a way her prayer and advice to us in our marriage, my aunt Kathryn read them during the ceremony.”

The couple exchanged the sweetest gifts on the wedding day. “Micah had the inside of my wedding band engraved with the name of our first dance song “More of You”. For Micah’s gift, I had a hardcover book made of all of our text messages, photos, and scans of my private diary entries he’d never read bound in chronological order. He came over to my room the night before and we exchanged gifts and it was so sweet and emotional! He told me he stayed up all night reading the book!”.

For their 85 guests, Ginny and Micah’s priorities from the outset were “food and fun!”. The bride tells us, “I wanted everyone to have an amazing meal and I wanted our guests to be entertained from start to finish— with a quirky cocktail hour entertainment, an amazing magician, and our energetic live band to get everyone on the dance floor. Our initial plan was to put florals and decor on the back burner but it still turned out so beautifully with the vision and expertise of our talented Planner, Brianne McMullan and our team of vendors.”

And the perfect venue for their Shakespeare-inspired wedding celebration? The Farm at Old Edwards – a charming and rustic-inspired venue surrounded by the beauty and serenity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. “We toured Old Edwards a couple weeks after getting engaged to check it out and I was instantly sold. My family encouraged me to look at some other options—and I did— but even later they said they knew this was the place! The flow between the different spaces, the service (dinner service was synchronized and choreographed like a show!), and food at this venue is top notch!”

Not only did bride Ginny have such a wonderful creative vision for their day, her and her crafty mom DIY’s so many of the epic details you see. “My mom truly was my hero and embroidered 100 cloth napkins for our table settings. She also helped me monogram all kinds of things—hats for the dance floor, we made Christmas ornament escort cards on the cricut that were also our party favors—my family has a tradition of collecting a Christmas ornament everywhere we travel. I made chocolate molds of our wedding monograms for the desserts. I embroidered personalized handkerchiefs for everyone in the wedding party. I did an illustration of each of our dogs that we used in the bar signs and drink stirs. I also stayed up all night a few weeks before the wedding sewing custom throw pillows for all of our rental furniture!”

While the couples fur-babies Gimli and Radley couldn’t be with them on the day they featured in the bar menu and drink stirs!

For wedding favours, Ginny and Micah’s guests received sweet homemade Christmas ornaments which also doubled up as escort cards.

“During the reception, our flower girls, who are amazing little cloggers, started dancing on the floor on their own while everyone wrapped up dinner and it was so adorable and one of my favorite moments of the night. I have such fond memories of being a flower girl in 3 different weddings and was so happy they had fun and hopefully will have a good memory of our wedding to look back on.”

For their first dance as newlyweds, the couple took to the floor to More of You by Chris Stapleton. “Our first dance was choreographed by our dear friends, Kathryn and Robert Blythe.”

For their reception party, Ginny changed into a short dress with peplum waist train, and an off-shoulder neckline which mirrored her wedding gown.

After their magical winter celebration Ginny and Micah went on a French Polynesia island hopping honeymoon from Tahiti, To Moorea, Bora Bora, and Ta Ha’a. Ginny tells us, “It was amazing and beautiful. A perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Would highly recommend it! We used our amazing travel agent, Victoria Banks Travel (@viabanktravel on Instagram) and no detail was forgotten!”

Ginny and Micah have the following advice for couples planning their big day, “We had a 4 month engagement and If you want a short engagement, do it! Less time to stress and mull over every decision. The whirlwind is so fun and who wouldn’t want to start their life sooner with their love! I can’t imagine doing it any other way.”
