An Effortlessly Modern Summer Destination Wedding in Sicily

Today’s real wedding in Italy was a fairytale of contemporary glamour. Chelsea and Jack tied the knot in a spectacular and stunning summer celebration in Sicily. With dazzling Meditterean sea views and a serene garden setting, their venue Tonnara di Scopello left their guests utterly in awe. Coupled with their modern styling with a pop of fun, their destination wedding was off the charts chic. Including two fabulous fashion-forward bridal looks, oversized bouquets, a stunning waterfront ceremony, fruity decor, dinner sax and an incredible performance from the groom, dive into the magic of this sun-soaked Sicilian celebration with photography from Gianmarco Vetrano.

How gorgeous were Chelsea’s silky personalised wedding morning pyjamas?

Chelsea and Jack are from the UK and they were joined by 82 of their nearest and dearest for their sun-drenched destination wedding.

So timeless! The grooms party wore brilliant black-tie looks with the suave groom popping from the pack with his ensemble from Fursac Paris which included an ecru fitted wool tuxedo jacket that dazzled in the sunlight.

Their summer wedding in Sicily was “just so much fun” they tells us, it was exactly what they wanted it to be! They planned their celebration with lots of moments to entertain their guests. A feeling of pure jubilation was in the air as they kicked off the festivities with a fabulous welcome party which included an authentic Sicilian band and a pizza van.

Chelsea exuded contemporary elegance wearing a Katherine Tash wedding dress with a bateau neckline and an exposed back which she sourced at The Fall Bride. She accessorised with a romantic lace-edged veil, pearl earrings and shoes from The Attico.

With floral design by Atmosphere Creatori d’Emozioni the bride carried a jaw-dropping modern bouquet boasting Arabian starflower, anthurium, calla lilies, and hydrangeas which was tied with a pearl-dotted ribbon.

Nestled in its own private bay, the venue is hypnotically located by crystal-clear shores with awe-inspiring views of sea stacks. It was a cinematic and captivating setting for their sun-soaked outdoor ceremony.

Finding a wedding planner who truly understood their venue was essential and Ksenia at Sicilian Wedding Lab brought their wedding day dreams to life.

Intimate and full of laughter, their ceremony was packed with moments that the couple will cherish forever.

Shining bright in sage satin! Chelsea’s bridal besties wore elegant midis from Shona Joy with mix and matched necklines and metallic heels.

“Every corner of Tonnara is breathtakingly beautiful, we knew it was ‘the one’ immediately,” Chelsea says. “It’s the sort of venue that makes you ‘feel’ something, and we wanted that for our guests.”

With fabric signage, sleek pillars, flowers including potted hydrangea and flowing amaranthus, and pears, we absolutely adore their elegant and organic seating chart.

The tablescape styling exuded fresh elegance with a fun twist as the stationery by Studio Grafico MAZE included sweet squiggle place settings and menus boasting colourful illustrations of food and tassels. Taper candles in tall glass cylinders brought an undeniably romantic glow and clusters of blooms and grapes adorned the tables.

For Chelsea and Jack the other real bonus was that they could hire the entire venue for their full wedding celebration. “It felt really intimate to have everyone together in this small pocket of Sicily, overlooking the cliffs and sea.”

Saxophonist Mr Fabris got the newlyweds and their guests in the party frame of mind during the dinner, he has everyone on their feet and ready for the dancefloor.

They encourage couples who are planning a destination wedding to consider hiring a planner. “Ksenia was a delight to work with, had some fantastic suppliers for us to choose from, and advised us on how the day should run – she was spot on with all her advice. She also went above and beyond on the day to keep everything running smoothly, meaning we could enjoy the entire day knowing we were in safe hands.”

Pito’ Catering served up a tantalising menu and they also created their berry-becked pavlova cake – which is a retro classic that’s making quite a comeback at weddings.

The bride sparkled in her evening dress which was a champagne sequin maxi from Rotate. “I removed the inner lining to make it more see-through.”

They had a wonderful surprise for their guests as Jack sang their first dance song which was Aerosmith’s iconic ballad I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing. Chelsea reflects, “He was supposed to stop after the first verse but being the showman he is, he grabbed the microphone and jumped back onto the table to belt out the rest!”

The newlyweds continued their celebrations by checking into the boutique hotel Principe Di Salina on the small volcanic island of Salina for their honeymoon. “We would absolutely recommend staying here,” Chelsea shares.
