An Immensely Stylish Part-One Dublin City Wedding

Sensational style and the biggest smiles! Carla and Eoin tied the knot in an intimate and unforgettable Dublin wedding before they jetted off to Italy for their ‘I dos’ round two. Joined by five of their most adored people, they exchanged vows in a heartwarming ceremony officiated by their dear friend at the Joyce House Registry Office.

Dublin was the backdrop for their timeless day and they celebrated with their loved ones at some of city’s most iconic venues: The Westbury, Kehoe’s Pub and The Ivy. If you’re looking for sensationally chic legal ceremony outfit inspiration, prepare for your jaw to drop over Carla’s look which included a breathtaking illusion lace jumpsuit by Nadine Merabi and the prettiest peony bouquet. We welcome you to take a look through their gorgeous wedding album from Robbie Mullins.

We know you will absolutely swoon over their love story. Carla is from Dublin and Eoin is from Laois and while they matched on Tinder back in 2015 it would take years for them to have their first date. They were limited by the fact that Eoin did not drink alcohol, so a drink was off the cards, nor did he drink coffee so they could not plot a cute coffee date for their first rendez vous and Carla refused to be taken out for an orange juice. Then, Eoin moved to Abu Dhabi but that was not the end of their story.

In 2020, the pandemic wasn’t the only life-altering thing about to happen to Carla and Eoin. After a successful few years in Abu Dhabi, Eoin was in South Africa on holiday when Covid hit and he could not return there. He flew home and when he returned he set up Tinder again and who did he swipe right on… only Carla!

At this stage Eoin was now a drinker so it meant that they could finally go on a first date over a drink. They will never forget their first date which took place on July 11, 2020, in the Taphouse bar in Dublin. Due to pandemic restrictions at the time you could only stay in a place for an hour and a half with a compulsory €9 meal. Against the odds, Eoin and Carla’s first date lasted six hours and during it the famous phrase ‘Are you gonna kiss me or not?’ was spoken. As an English teacher Carla has always had a way with words. There were two more dates that summer but in August Eoin had to return to Abu Dhabi for the school year and Carla stayed Dublin. There was a lot of texting back and forth and in December Carla flew to Dubai by herself just to see Eoin.

A lot can happen in a week, Carla may have caught Covid but she also caught feelings so much so that she decided to spruce up her CV because she wanted to move to Abu Dhabi to be with Eoin. Eoin managed to pull a few strings in his school and Carla was offered a job. By March of 2021, her flights were booked to join Eoin and to start her new life in Abu Dhabi. On the stroke of midnight on July 15, 2021, a year to the day of their second date, it was made official and Carla and Eoin became boyfriend and girlfriend. Then, one month after Carla moved country and her and Eoin started a life together abroad.

Abu Dhabi was a great platform for them to kickstart their relationship. They adored the cosmopolitan location and they were surrounded by an amazing network of Irish friends. They say opposites attract and living together they got to see their different styles, for example Carla is a morning person while Eoin is not. Similarly, Carla is very organised while Eoin is not so much. Except when he knew it was time to propose and in preparing for it, he turned out to be very organised!

In December 2023, while Carla browsed the magical Christmas markets in Vienna with Eoin’s sister, Gilly, he took a very special trip to Dubai to buy her an engagement ring. He kept it a secret by packing it in a sock inside an Amazon box in his suitcase. Eoin brought Carla back to the scene of their very first date on the 20th of December to pop the question. He threw her off the scent by saying they were doing a ‘town day’ and he made a little scavenger hunt for her. They booked into a hotel in town and Eoin gave Carla the first of five envelopes that he had made for her to open. The first envelope said, ‘Go back to the place we first met’. Carla instantly knew that was the Taphouse. When they reached the bar, Eoin gave Carla her second envelope, it said, ‘Are you ready for Chapter 2? If so, say Yes.’ When Carla looked up from the envelope Eoin was down on one knee with the ring that Carla always wanted. It was an absolutely magical moment they will always cherish.

Now that you’ve found out all about how their happily ever after began, let’s move onto to their dreamy legal ceremony in Dublin. For the couple their main priority was to have a chilled but glam celebration filled with love where they could create memories with their loved ones that would last a lifetime.

Exuding effortless romance, Carla’s show-stopper illusion lace jumpsuit was by Nadine Merabi. She accessorised with metallic heels from Mantra Official, a pearlescent clutch personalised with her name and her elegant birdcage veil adorned with glimmering pearls and her jewellery came all the way from a boutique in Tokyo, Japan.

Carla did her softly glam makeup herself and Jane Dowling created her chic up do which was complemented with tousled curls.

Their dear friend Barry Drumm acted as their celebrant and he wrote their full ceremony which was full of heart and joy.

Eoin’s slick wedding day look was from Protocol Suits which included a very dapper velvet blazer. So timeless!

The bride carried a pretty bouquet of pink and cream peonies which were sourced at the Grafton St flower market.

Her top piece of wedding advice is to, “Soak it all in as best as you can because if you could bottle the feeling and sell it, you’d be a millionaire.”

Rosie sums up their timeless celebration in the heart of the city, “It was a sensational day where all of Dublin smiled with us and created one of the best days of our lives. The intimacy of the day with just our parents and guardians, as well as the way so many strangers congratulated us, cheered for us, bought us drinks and genuinely made the day even more magical by demonstrating the kindness of strangers.”

A month later the couple said ‘I do’ in the dreamiest style at the immensely romantic Borgo Di Tragliata in Rome.

They were in a complete wedding bubble as they honeymooned on Lake Garda after the wedding. “We had a few days to soak in all the love and appreciation we felt over the few weeks leading up to the wedding.”

Congratulations Carla and Eoin! A very special thank you to our fabulous couple and Robbie Mullins for sharing their dreamy Dublin wedding with One Fab Day!
