Nicola Peltz’s Wedding Dress Drama Explained

Nicola Peltz’s Wedding Dress Drama Explained

While Victoria Beckham had her fair share of wedding dress stress ahead of her Luttrellstown Castle wedding in 1999, her daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz is making fresh bridal style headlines for very different reasons. That is because her husband Brooklyn Beckham broke his silence over his ongoing family feud with a blistering social media post packed with bombshell allegations that have drawn global attention. In the six-slide post on his Instagram stories, the aspiring chef claimed that his family have tried to “ruin” his relationship with his wife. He also made several accusations about how his parents acted negatively in the run up to and on the day of his wedding. One very awkward claim was that his mum “hijacked” his first dance and “danced inappropriately” on him.

Not exactly new news, Brooklyn also shared how Nicola’s wedding dress was also a cause of serious stress. When the couple got engaged in 2020 it was quickly announced that Victoria would be doing the honours in designing Nicola’s wedding dress. The acclaimed fashion designer wanted to “keep it in the family” and bride-to-be Nicola was, understandably, thrilled. The idea of having a wedding dress designed by your future mother-in-law would be enough to make any bride’s heart explode with joy. Unfortunately, it seems Nicola’s bridal look has been central to the family fallout and a real thorn in Brand Beckham’s side. We’re unpacking all the drama below!

Inside the Nicola Peltz and Victoria Beckham Wedding Dress Drama

Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot in one of the most lavish celebrity weddings of 2022 on April 9th at her father’s $103 million estate in Palm Beach. Nicola wore a breathtaking custom-made Valentino Haute Couture gown with opera gloves. There were 500 guests in attendance including famous faces such as Victoria’s fellow Spice Girl, Mel C, along with Eva Longoria and Serena and Venus Williams.

Brooklyn alleged that his mother pulled out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress “at the eleventh hour” thereby “forcing her to urgently find a new dress”.

There are two sides to every story and in this case there are actually various accounts of how the wedding dress was brought to life. Resurfaced comments have contradicted what Brooklyn has said and highlighted ultimately how the wedding dress process may not have been such of a rushed job.

In an article published by Vogue after the wedding, Nicola’s bridal stylist Leslie Fremar shared how the dress was a culmination of a “year’s worth of conversations” with Valentino’s creative director Pier Paolo Piccioli’s team.

She said it was “the ultimate couture experience” as the bride-to-be travelled to Rome HQ for fittings. There were also two fittings in the US and the head seamstress was said to have flown in especially to ensure the gown fitted to perfection.

In an interview with Grazia USA in 2022, Nicola appeared to hint how things had not gone smoothly at all when it came to Victoria designing her gown.

“We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mum and said her atelier couldn’t make it,” she explained while adding that she was truly so excited to wear a design that her future mother-in-law had created.

In an interview with the Sunday Times the same year she insisted there was no “family feud” and she highlighted how, “I really, really wanted to wear [the dress] and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mum got to make that for me.”

A source told People at the time how the actress was “painted as a brat” for not wearing a Victoria Beckham design down the aisle and they noted how Nicola had “gone to a ton of Victoria Beckham fashion shows and events in Victoria’s clothing” and “even wore Victoria Beckham to her Lola movie premiere.”
