Depending on the style you wish to create, feather, or edible wafer butterflies are available online via sites such as Etsy and Amazon, in an array of different colours, styles and sizes.
Light-as-air butterflies can also be created using rice paper to give them that real-life appearance, so ask your wedding cake designer if they fancy the challenge?
