From famous mums to mums of well-known faces, here is our list of the best dressed celebrity mothers of the bride to inspire you.
Celebrity Mothers of the Bride
Hillary Clinton
Chelsea Clinton’s wedding in 2010 was a multi-million dollar affair and for the occasion, Hillary wore an eye-catching pink ombré gown with 3D floral embellishment by Oscar de la Renta, a long-time friend of hers. It was certainly a departure from her more demure Washington looks and it was nice to see her having fun with her mother of the bride look.
Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham was just 48 years old when she became a mother of the groom, when her son Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz. Choosing a dress from her own collection she shone in a Studio 54-inspired slip made from liqiud-like-metallic silk. Slinky, sophisticated and glamourous – we would expect nothing less.
Doria Ragland
All eyes were on Meghan Markle’s mum Doria Ragland during her wedding to Prince Harry back in 2018, and not just because she was arriving from the US solo as her ex husband Thomas Markle didn’t make it on the day. Doria cut a poised and elegant figure in a pistachio green shift dress and smart fitted coat with white floral motifs by Oscar de la Renta.
Jill Biden
Technically Jill Biden was grandmother of the bride when she stepped out for Naomi Biden’s wedding in 2022, but we’ll allow it. The granddaughter of President Joe Biden got married in Novemeber, so the First Lady sensibly wrapped up in a perfectly tailored teal coat over a silk chiffon dress by Reem Acra for the outdoor ceremony. She continued the monochromatic trend with coordinating gloves.
Kris Jenner
Kris Jenner was never going to blend into the background for her daughter Kourtney’s Italian wedding to Travis Barker in May 2022. As the entire day was styled by Dolce & Gabbana, she wore a light pink Alta Moda dress with feather embellishment from the collection. The relaxed silhouette meant that she was cool and comfortable enough to stay in it from ceremony to late-night dancing.
Tina Knowles
Solange Knowles’ wedding in 2014 was an all-white affair and Tina delivered her look in style. Her long-sleeved, floor-length gown with ruching in the middle was paired with oversized gold bangles and a flawless wavey blow dry. While we don’t know what she wore to her other daughter Beyoncé’s wedding, we’re sure it was something equally as stylish what with her being a fashion deisgner in her own right.
Carole Middleton
Carole had not one, but two high-profile weddings to choose an outfit for and one of them just happened to be a royal wedding. For both Kate and Pippa’s big days, Carole chose soft pastels hues that worked well with her complexion and hair colour, and did not pull attention in any way from the brides. A masterclass in understated elegance.
Sarah Ferguson
Never let it be said that the Ferguson ladies don’t love a good statement hat. Sarah Ferguson chose a statement emerald green shade for her daughter wedding to Jack Brooksbank in 2018. that mirrored the beautiful emerald tiara that Princess Eugenie wore. The wrap dress was by Emma Louise but there was a sentimental aspect to the ensemble too, as she wore the very clutch her mother Susan Barrantes wore to her wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986.
Glenn Close
When her daughter Annie chose to have an at-home wedding in New York, Glenn interpreted the chic but relaxed vibe perfectly a champagne-toned coat and trousers. The ruffled neckline brought a softness to the look which suited the garden setting perfectly.
Melissa Canaday
When Modern Family star Sarah Hyland got married, her mother, Melissa Canaday, who is also an actress, chose a beautiful aqua green gown with a Bardot neckline. Keeping her hair and makeup look pared back and fresh meant the bold shade could do the talking.
