A Fun, Flower-Filled Wedding at Home: Weronika & Alex

We love to see how couples make their wedding celebrations their own. Our real wedding couple Weronika and Alex picked a truly unique location for their special day. The couple are based in Dundalk but due to logistics they were unable to organize the wedding in Weronika’s home country of Poland. It was the groom’s immensely elegant and character-filled childhood home.

110 of their loved ones joined them for the summer wedding at home that was relaxed, fun and filled with laughter and came to life in a palette of rich rustic shades from burnt orange to earthy green. Dramatic blooms flourished all over the house and in the marquee on the lawn for their texture and colour-loaded reception that will leave you breathless. With a gorgeous first look photo, the couple’s unique ceremony arrival, a wildflower wedding cake and more, prepare to be absolutely charmed. Not to mention the enchanting wedding images that await you from documentary-style visionary Kyrstin Healy Photography.

The Child of Prague was present so the sun shone bright giving their day a halcyon glow of happiness. Let’s learn a little bit more about our couple’s love story first. They met while they were in college in Slovakia. Alex picked a special date to pop the question, he proposed to Weronika in Killaloe in Co. Clare on her 30th birthday!

As for picking their utterly dreamy wedding venue, they explain, “We travelled and moved a lot around Ireland over the last couple of years due to work commitments and Dundalk is the only place we feel really connected with. The gorgeous settings of Alex’s childhood home and the sentimental element of having the wedding in the house where he grew up made it to be ‘the one’.”

Music, flowers, food, and craic,” were their top priorities they tell us. “We wanted something fun, cheerful and relaxed that will suit the overall aesthetics of a Georgian house.” The couple worked with Infusion Wedding Concepts to bring their dream wedding aesthetic to life and with a contemporary approach to texture and colour, the results were nothing short of breathtaking.

How utterly gorgeous was the couple’s first look? Weronika’s co-ord by French bridal designer Caroline Takvorian was both whimsical and sophisticated comprising of a semi-sheer floral lace top with slight puffed shoulders and a flowing skirt with a thigh-high split. She accessorised with gold Rachel Simpson heels, gold-plated pearl drop earrings and carried a bouquet of all-white blooms.

Dapper groom Alex’s wedding wardrobe included a handsome check blazer and a maroon satin bow-tie. Then it was time for the main event and the couple created their own tradition by travelling to the church and hitting the aisle together. Their floral church entrance display was a teaser for the fairytale sight inside as an aisle meadow including foxtail lillies, soft pink and peach tea roses, chrysanthemum, and queen Anne’s lace.

Their favourite piece of ceremony music was Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy. Later, Weronika and Alex took full advantage of the scenic grounds for their wedding photos which were so full of happiness and love.

Their wedding signage also incorporated the natural palette and strikingly beautiful botanical illustrations.

Guests toasted to the couple’s happily ever after before they took their seats as they received shots of Polish vodka at the entrance to the reception in the marquee.

Tables boasted romantic floral arrangements, burnt orange table runners, woven placemats, vintage-style coloured wine glasses, and menus with orange tassels. A striking floral and foliage display hung above the main table only adding to the lushly verdant vibe.

We have a serious sweet spot for summer wedding cakes that are colourful and expressive. The couple’s wildflower-dappled confection was all kinds of dreamy.

Instead of opting for a dessert after the meal they had a buffet of sweet treats for their guests including doughnuts (which are a favourite wedding cake alternative of ours), berry-covered tartlets and ice creams which were adorned with cute bows.

Reminiscing about the reception, the couple admit, “Our cat Frankie was the star of the show and somehow he got mentioned during the speeches more than ourselves (which was not intentional). Unfortunately Frankie was not present at the wedding or the reception himself.” They had their first dance Faith No More’s cover of Easy by The Commodores.

“The wedding band somehow guessed what music we are into and we could not have enjoyed it more!” To celebrate the exciting next chapter in their lives the couple jetted off for a mini-moon to Porto. They highly recommend it to newlyweds!

A very special thank you to Weronika, Alex and Kyrstin Healy Photography for sharing this absolutely magical wedding with One Fab Day! You can see even more pictures in the gallery below.
