Are you a fan of all things sultry, deep and rich in colour? This dreamy real wedding comes to you from the Meath countryside courtesy of Libhín and Donagh. Starring twilight black candles, mini pumpkins and an heirloom wedding ring over 100 years old – this sweet celebration is an ode to all things October. The moody autumnal vibe permeated Ballymagarvey Village in the most magical way, painting warmth and love against the canvas of a jet black sky. Each enigmatic image of their Ballymagarvey Village wedding was captured gloriously by The Lous Photography. Are you ready to go beyond the veil? Let’s go!
Libhín’s dress was a bespoke design by Orla Carroll at The Attic featuring a pleated skirt, long train and detachable long sleeved bodice overlay; the epitome of elegance. As for the shoes, the bride chose a black pair of Jimmy Choos and we can’t think of anything more fitting to the theme. Brave, bold and not afraid to bend the traditional wedding rules! A clear example of showcasing your personality and true style on your wedding day.
Libhín who is a lover of all things dark, incorporated her style into her bouquet which added a layer of depth and mystery. Tied together with black satin ribbon, the blood red, mustard and dusty pink roses added a sultry romantic aesthetic against her angelic white dress.
The sumptuous palette worked so well for their Ballymagarvey Village wedding, leaning into dark and sultry shades that suited the autumn season so well.
A beautiful moment captured was of her grandmother kissing the ring that was once hers and also her great grandmother’s. A family heirloom that is now over 100 years old that will continue to be passed on. Libhín says, “it will be on my hand until I pass it down.”
Libhín chose an unusual shade of purple for her bridesmaids dresses – byzantium – that was simply beguiling and we can’t take our eyes off it! The distinctive shade echoes the deep purples in her flowers perfectly.
The look of love! Donagh was suited by the reputable Louis Copeland & Sons. He wore an elegant, classic black tuxedo that was sure to make a statement. The groomsmen also followed suit with a dapper black tie attire, adding to the mood perfectly. The bohemian style buttonhole added a pop of modernity and colour – we love it.
The couples exit was greeted by an Irish tradition; a guard of honour of hurleys raised in the air! Which later in the night transformed into a sparkler tunnel, another very popular wedding tradition that makes for an incredible photoshoot.
The couple got engaged in the beautiful city of Lisbon where the sunset lit up the sky and a string quartet were playing a song that was soon to be Libhín’s processional song. “We got to this amazing view point at Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara, the sun was setting and there was a string quartet playing Canon in D, which I later walked down the aisle to,” says Libhín. “Then he got down on one knee and the rest is history. We had three more amazing days in Lisbon and it was such a special and exciting time.”
As well as her love for the deep and dark shades, Libhín loves all things autumn and wanted to incorporate this into her wedding. The rich tones in her colour palette matched the warmth of the October surroundings at Ballymagarvey Village perfectly. We adore the pop of the pink roses in her bouquet, the right amount of colour without it taking over.
When it came to choosing the venue, the couple knew that Ballymagarvey Village was the one. Mesmerised by the banquet hall and plush decor, it was the perfect choice. They also told us that the team were fabulous to work with and allowed Libhín to achieve her vision for a dark and romantic wedding day.
The little pumpkins, figs, plums and flowers create a beautiful sense of an abundant harvest season, which autumn is all about. The black tapered candles and antique gold candle sticks complement the fairy lights and orange leaves in a subtle and sumptuous way.
Libhín’s pearlescent clutch with gold foil detailing was a dreamy accessory, and went with her bridal manicure perfectly.
For her evening look, Libhín transformed her look revealing a sweetheart neckline and swapped her veil for a delicate pearl necklace. The detachable overlay transformed her look from day to night!
The couple opted for a toast instead of speeches and to their surprise, the groomsmen had planned a song for the groom. “Donagh’s brother and best man surprised us at the toast and sang this hilarious song he made up about Donagh because we weren’t doing speeches. Donagh’s toast was so special to me and he was so thoughtful,” says Libhín.
The personalised denim jacket that Libhín wore was embellished in pearls to match her earrings and necklace. Personal touches such as this allows so much opportunity for your photographer to capture versatile images on your wedding day.
The twinkly trees created an enchanting woodland feel making it the perfect setting for the sparkler tunnel. Libhín’s shares her advice for planning a wedding; “start early, be organised, make a timeline of when you want to have items ticked off your list! I also think creating mood boards to identify your colour scheme is very helpful.”
The couple enjoyed a mini-moon in Rome after the wedding and are looking forward to travelling to Croatia and the Greek Island of Rhodes this June. We wish the lovely couple the best of luck on their travels.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Libhín and Donagh for sharing their wonderful at Ballymagarvey Village wedding with us. A special thanks also goes out the The Lous for capturing these amazing images. There is lots more swoon worthy material in the gallery below. Enjoy!
